Senior Software Engineer, MR

Mayfield Village, OH

CMRU has an immediate opening for a Senior Software Engineer in the MR software team to participate in developing reconstruction software for our MR product line.  This position works independently and within a cross functional team to deliver MR reconstruction features and solutions for multiple platforms and product releases.

Responsibilities

  • Write application software for a Linux-like system using C++.
  • Build and maintain software test infrastructure.
  • Work with MR physicists to implement algorithms for MR reconstruction systems, and help support and train them for product software development.
  • Analyze product and system level requirements and translate to software specifications.
  • Design and implement solutions to complex data management and distributed processing software problems in the reconstruction platform domain.
  • Optimize software to obtain optimum performance on available computation hardware.
  • Plan and perform integration activities at component, sub-system and system levels.
  • Work independently within a cross-functional team without continuous supervision.
  • Understand research and industry trends in the area of MR reconstruction and MR image processing applications.

Qualifications

Education
  • B.S. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, Physics/Engineering Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • An advanced M.S. or Ph.D. degree is desirable.
Experience The ideal candidate will have minimum four (4) years related experience and/or training, preferably in a product development environment; academic or research settings will be considered as well. Key Competencies Computer Skills
  • Practical hands-on software development experience in C/C++ using object-oriented design and analysis principles.
  • Practical experience in high performance computing using multi-threaded CPU or GPU programming, including performance profiling and optimization.
  • Practical experience of development on multiple operating systems (including Windows, Linux).
  • Practical experience in converting user requirements and high-level design into innovative software solutions using latest technology.
  • Working knowledge of source code control systems like SVN, Mercurial.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages like Python or shell scripts and advanced command line tools in Windows or Linux.
  • Working knowledge of software quality assurance processes including unit and integration test development and execution, and code reviews.
  • Exposure to Scientific Programming (MATLAB, Python NumPy or equivalent).
  • Exposure to software for creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Project Management Skills
  • Proven experience at software development analysis, task time and effort estimation, and execution to plan.
  • Experience performing software requirement analysis and definition.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to refine product requirements to be realized in software.
  • Experience with web-based project management tools like Redmine.
Language and Communication Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical requirements and design documents.
  • Ability to support and train MR scientist in the development and prototyping of advanced reconstruction techniques.
  • Ability to write presentations for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to supervisor, cross-functional technical groups, and/or senior management.
Mathematics/Physics Skills
  • Ability to demonstrate or learn concepts from the following fields:
    • Mathematical analysis: differentiation and integration
    • Complex number mathematics including magnitude/phase relationships, and mathematical transform space (i.e. between frequency/time domains)
    • MR physics and image reconstruction, including FFT, non-Cartesian re-gridding, apodization, filtering, etc.
    • Medical image processing
    • Linear algebra
    • Numerical analysis
    • Statistics
    • Digital signal processing
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Travel
  • Ability to complete occasional domestic or international travel may be required.
