MR Feature Development Research Scientist Intern

Canon Medical Research USA, Inc. (CMRU) is proud to announce the launch of our 2026 ADVANCE internship program. Students will work alongside our scientists and engineers as we develop cutting-edge medical imaging technologies for our parent company Canon Medical Systems Corporation.

The ADVANCE Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience working on important technical projects. This program runs 12 weeks during the summer term. This is a full-time, 37.5 hours a week, paid internship.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

CMRU is looking for an intern to join our MR Feature Development team and contribute to the design, development, and testing of new MRI pulse sequence and reconstruction technologies for Canon Medical MR scanners. Students will be mentored while gaining hands-on experience developing products for the next generation of Canon MR systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop advanced reconstruction algorithms for new features on Canon MR systems.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams to evaluate image quality and performance.
  • Summarize work in the form of reports and presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate is a full-time graduate student from an accredited college or university working towards a Ph.D. in
  • Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Physics, or related STEM field.
  • Student must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Experience developing and debugging advanced image reconstruction algorithms for MR.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MR physics.
  • Proficient in Matlab and/or Python.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Time Commitment

This is a full-time, temporary position that requires a commitment of 12 weeks and 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday during regular business hours. This is a hybrid position, which requires in-office work at least 3 days a week.
