Zhou Yu, Ph.D.

Director of CT R&D

Zhou Yu, Ph.D., is Director of CT R&D at Canon Medical Research USA, Inc.  In this role, he leads the strategy and execution of CT research at CMRU.  He manages a portfolio of research projects as well as product development projects for Canon’s CT product lines.
 

Zhou has more than a decade of industry experience in medical imaging. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University. He started his career at GE Healthcare in 2009, where he worked to bring his thesis work to commercial product. He received Dushman award, one of the highest R&D awards at GE, for his work.
 
Zhou joined CMRU in 2013 as a senior scientist. He was then promoted to be the Manager of CT Image Reconstruction in 2015. Under his leadership, the team developed various advanced reconstruction features for Canon’s CT product lines, including world’s first deep learning-based image reconstruction algorithm (AiCE), and Canon’s deep learning spectral CT system.
 
Zhou has more than 30 patents, and has published more than 30 peer reviewed papers.
